A2 ART EXAM - 'Combinations and Alliances'
The exam will be held on the 10th and 11th of May for ALL A2 LEVEL STUDENTS so make sure that you are here for these dates. It will be an 12 hour exam held over two days.

The exam will be on the Fine Art specification which includes: Painting and Drawing; Printmaking; Sculpture

ARTISTS

I suggest that you aim to have researched into at least twelve artists, looking into their subject matter, how they use different media and how they relate to the theme of 'Combinations and Alliances' and how they relate to your own ideas.

At the bottom of this page you will find a list of artists recommended by the exam board and also some additional artists I have included. All you need to do is click on their name to be taken to a website on the artist and their work.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

By the exam you will need to have the following completed and ready for assessment. Remember, there is no Initial Assessment for the exam so there are no second chances.

Artist Research Sketchbook

At least twelve artists with personal insights into their work.

At least one Gallery Visit

Development Sketchbook/Development Sheets

Mind Map of starting theme 'Combinations and Alliances' using the inspirational list for help if needed.

Initial ideas with thumbnail sketches and annotation.

Development of Initial ideas exploring different media, composition and scale.

Plan of how your Final Piece will look, ready to be completed in the exam.

FINAL ADVICE

DO NOT LEAVE EVERYTHING TO THE LAST MINUTE!!

You will need to do as much research and development for the exam as you have done for the coursework. This includes using all the different media including pencil, graphite, pastel, oil pastel, water colour paints, acrylic paints, oil paints, gouache, clay, lino print, screen print, collage and anything else you want.

Remember to annotate your work and explain how your work and ideas are developing.
