ASSESSMENT OBJECTIVES
In order to achieve the best marks you need to be addressing all four objectives for the coursework and the exam.
A01
Develop their ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
CONTINUALLY DEVELOP YOUR IDEAS LEADING TOWARDS YOUR FINAL PIECE. RESEARCH INTO ARTISTS WHO ARE RELEVANT TO THE WORK YOU ARE DOING. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE MAXIMUM MARKS THIS NEEDS TO BE IN DEPTH WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHY THE WORK WAS PRODUCED AND AN INSIGHT INTO THE ARTWORK PRODUCED.
A02
Experiment with and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining their ideas as their work develops.
USE AS MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF MEDIA AS YOU CAN AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU ANNOTATE THEM AND COMMENT ON WHETHER THEY WORK WELL OR NOT, USE DIFFERENT COLOURS TO CREATE DIFFERENT MOODS. USE MEDIA THAT YOU HAVEN’T USED BEFORE AND TRY TO DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO UTILISE THE STRENGTHS OF THE MEDIA. DON’T JUST GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR FINAL IDEA OR YOU’LL LOSE MARKS.
A03
Record in visual and/or other forms ideas, observations and insights relevant to their intentions, demonstrating an ability to reflect on their work and progress.
THIS IS DONE THROUGH EVALUATING YOUR IDEAS AND THE MEDIA YOU HAVE USED THROUGH ANNOTATION. MAKE SURE THAT THIS IS CLEAR AND OBVIOUS SO THAT IT ISN’T MISSED WHEN BEING ASSESSED. YOU SHOULD CONSTANTLY BE LOOKING FOR NEW IDEAS AND INSPIRATION TO DEVELOP YOUR WORK. THIS SHOULD BE DONE THROUGH PRIMARY (DRAWING FROM LIFE) AND SECONDARY SOURCES (BOOKS AND INTERNET).
A04
Present a personal, informed and meaningful response demonstrating critical understanding, realising intentions and, where appropriate, making connections between visual, oral or other elements.
THIS IS MAINLY THROUGH YOUR FINAL PIECE WHEREBY YOU HAVE COME UP WITH A FINAL IDEA THAT DEMONSTRATES YOUR CONCEPT AND CAN OBVIOUSLY BE LINKED TO THE WORK OF ANOTHER ARTIST(S). UTILISE YOUR STRENGTHS IN ORDER TO PRODUCE A HIGH QUALITY PIECE OF WORK BUT ALSO PUSH YOURSELF OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE.
